After 21 years with HEB grocery Co., I decided it was time to retire. It was during the beginning of my retirement that I wanted a medium to bring all my culinary knowledge to my local San Antonio community, which is how Chef Mark Powers LLC was born. My goal is a simple one: to share my passion for food with my local San Antonio community one guest at a time. My Story
My background is in Psychology. I earned my BA in Psychology from CCSU (Corpus Christi State University) in 1990. Then in 1996 I attended NECI (New England Culinary Institute) in Burlington VT., where I cooked for Julia Child in 1996. I received my AOS in Culinary Arts in 1998, returned to Texas to work for HEB Grocery Co. which led to my travels to Italy, Sicily, Argentina, Chile & Mexico, to name a few, where my passion for food & wine was able to grow roots. This passion for food & wine was the driving force that pushed me to start a private chef business in San Antonio, with my goal of bringing world flavors to your kitchen table, with my specialty steakhouse vibe being my favorite way to cook.
